Hi, hello,
I’m new to the forum & i’m considering head light bulb upgrade. I’ve ordered bright white H7 dipped beam bulbs but I’m not sure which type of bulb I’ll need for the high beam fitment, if anyone knows which type of bulb I’ll need that would be a great help thank you.
Kind Regards

This is a tricky area when buying upgrade bulbs.
You have to think of two aspects.
1) Lumen - this measures brightness
2) Kelvin - this measures colour
A brighter white light, say 6000 kelvin will be a lot whiter than the standard bulb but NO brighter if the Lumen value is the same as the standard bulb. It's just the colour of the light that is different not how much better you can see.
There is a limit on the development of halogen bulbs. If the Kelvin was about 6k and the Lumen value was about 3k it would be a lot brighter and whiter but the heat created by the filament would mean a seriously short life span (probably days).
I have tried several and found the best is Osram nightbreaker 200. It is a fair bit brighter and whiter and still retains a good like span.
You will never get LED quality from a halogen bulb. I only changed the dip as the mains are more than adequate for the shorter amount of time they are used.
You cannot fit LED bulbs into a halogen headlight unit as it is illegal but you can upgrade to the full LED headlights as fitted to models from 2022 onwards but this will cost north of 4k.

That depends entirely on the type of headlamps fitted. Without knowing this basic info we can't provide an answer. A VIN will helpJplant1981 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 13, 2024 1:42 pm Is there just the 2 bulbs (H7 and HB3) in the headlight ?
I am interested in this as I find the dipped beams to be too "orange" (the high beams are fine for my limited usage), I am curious to what folks would recommend as a replacement (when the first one dies), ideally they should be whiter and brighter, but nothing obnoxious.

So in your case you have a combo LED and Halogen headlamp. The LED components are not replaceable, only the 2 bulbs which again in your case are an H7 and a 65W HB3.
So as far as these halogen bulbs go, you need to find something that is road legal in the upgrade department. Be very careful as some places won't telly you that they are not road legal - until you've bought them.
You will be able to get an upgrade for the H7 that remains road legal.
