Hi,
I have had my Citroen c3 for 6 months and only use it for journeys no longer than half an hour at a time to work and errands and school and runs.
It is a 23 plate and only used just under 3500 miles.

Last week amber oil light appeared whilst driving then disappeared. The oil level said correct on the dash board and checked dipstick which indicated I had enough.

Then a week late whilst driving the same amber warning oil light has came on and for longer, having read other forums this hasn’t happened when on steep hills just flat driving.

Delearship sent someone out to check and they said a car of this age and mileage shouldn’t have the warning light on but he just visually inspected the car for 5 minutes but he has put a report in to advise not to drive. There is no spanner light just the oil can when it appears.

The first time I just thought it was maybe a blip but the fact it has been twice has worried me. I did ask the person who checked it over should I top up the oil he said no as level is fine but other people have suggested I do this.

The only thing is he has put the report back to the dealership to say he advises against driving the car but dealership Citroen garage can’t see car for another 2 months.

So I’m worried about driving and compromising my warranty as it’s in the report advised not to drive but I can’t go without a car this long. The person looking over it suggested the timing belt could be damaged?

Surely a newish car with this low mileage etc wouldn’t have a faulty timing belt ?

Does anyone suggest I do try more oil and drive for a bit ?

This is my first car so I know there may be some paranoia on my end. It’s more so because of the “expert” advising not to drive and it happening twice in 2 weeks.

Any advice welcome
Thanks

You haven't stated whether it's petrol or diesel! This makes a big difference.....

May I also add on the diagnostics part of the car it’s saying no fault detected ?
Not sure if it would show on there though.

Also to add the manager at the dealership said the person who THEY sent out has maybe just worried me by saying don’t drive it but I’m pretty sure if I drove it and it was to breakdown or break the timing belt they would say well you where advised not to drive.

You can inspect the timing belt through the oil filler cap access - you can see it clearly and should be able to see signs of disintegration if the belt is faulty.
