Hi all,

Just bought a used C5 Aircross online from a Spanish car supermarket type outfit and will collect the car March 12th when I'm next out there.

Paid €19,500 for a one owner 2020 1.2 litre petrol Auto with 95,000 KM's and a good few options over the basic spec but with the 17" alloys.

The advertised price of €15,990 (as is always the case in Spain) is the price if you take their credit payment plan, goes to show how much € there is in selling credit!!

€18,490 was the cash price + €250 for the cost to do the paperwork, transfer the car into your name etc + €750 for an upgraded 2 year bumper to bumper warranty so €19,490 in total.

Used cars hold their value very well in Spain (10 year old Qashqai's selling for €14,000 etc) so I'm happy enough with the deal.

Haven't had a Citroen since a I bought a used 1984 BX back in the day so looking forward to it.

Watched a ton of reviews as you do and know it's going to be wafty rather than sporty which is fine, I'm there on holiday and to relax, not hustle about the place.

Any thing in particular I should do or look out for on collection? Is it easy to update the system software to most current or is that a Citroen dealer job? Is Apple Car Play and Android Auto wireless or will I need to install an aftermarket device to provide that functionality?

I've a feeling I'll want to upgrade the wheels to the 18" or 19" but I'll wait and see how they do on the 17's.

I'll also want to add a tow bar to carry bikes around the place. Any reason I'd need to use a Citroen dealer for that or will any generic garage and tow bar do the trick?

This car is going to be driven 6-8 weeks a year and max 5,000 to 6,000 KM's so it'll get light treatment and will be parked off road under cover the rest of the year. In 5 years with 120,000 KM's on it I'll hope to get €10,000 to €12,000 back on it.

Looking forward to learning more about the car here and hopefully contributing at some stage.

Hi,
RE: Tow bar, I bought my used C5 Aircross from a Citroen Dealer, they sent a local company to fit the tow bar.
He was a real professional, and said he wasn't going to follow the instructions 100% as it leaves a visible cut, when finished you can hardly see it has been added (Removeable ball)

Thanks @chapi72, I think I'll also use a local tow bar fitting specialist as I'm guessing that's what the Citroen dealer would also do plus they'd add a handling fee / margin.

Do you know if its easy to update the system software to the most current version or is that something a Citroen dealer has to do?

Also, is Apple Car Play and Android Auto wireless or will I need to install an aftermarket device to provide that functionality?

System update pretty easy off of USB (sat nave, etc) but just takes time.

Car play and Android auto via a cable.
