Our C3 Aircross had its first annual service done 6538 miles on Wednesday the 10th January. No problems arose and all appears to be good, with the car running as sweet as a nut on the 25 mile journey home.
The service was carried out at Arnold Clarks soulless dealership in Glasgow about 25 miles away from home.
Unfortunately the nearest Arnold Clark Citroen dealership was in Linwood Paisley, who lost their Citroen franchise under the culling of outlets carried out by Stellantis in the past 12 or so months.
Instead of waiting at the dealership until the car was ready, I walked to the Glasgow Riverside Transport Museum, spending a number of interesting hours wondering around the many exhibits on display, from pedal bikes, to massive steam Engines, with cars, buses, trams and many other items in between. Also lots of beautiful models of ships built on the banks of the River Clyde. Included are the 3 Queens, Mary, Elisabeth and Elisabeth 2, all built by John Brown Ltd., of Clydebank.
I found the dealership to be a rather soulless place, with the large building divided up in sections for Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroen, DS Autos and an odd one out, Mazda. Also, an area nearly twice the size of the franchises held combined for Preowned vehicles, or Second Hand to you and I.. As said, a soulless place .
As my car was minus its Handbook, I asked if they could order one, but was somewhat put off doing so, as they have found it difficult to arrange the supply these items, Service Reception advised it could take many months to supply if at all.
I have been tending to blame the car outlet I purchased my car from, for the the loss of the Handbook. However, I was informed that Citroen no longer supply this item with a new car. I had downloaded a manual online and printed it off shortly after the purchase of the car, which covers the car and model. I had hoped to get the one that fits the holder where the Service and Maintenance booklet and Welcome to Citroen booklet are kept, but to no avail.
Why on earth is such an important document not supplied with a brand new car? Surely a vital item when purchasing a new car. An absolutely ridiculous decision on someones part.
Oh, and today is the C3s 1st Birthday of its Date of Registration 13/1/2023. The car was originally supplied by a Dealership in Salisbury The Penton Motor Group, but given a Preston Lancashire Registration No.
We bought it from a Specialist Car Dealer in Grangemouth, on the 28th Aug 2023, with 4,714 miles on the clock.

Citroen generally apply a very thin cut-down version in paper with the car, but to be honest it's not very comprehensive. The trend now is to use the app on a smart phone to call up the full manual or scan areas of the vehicle with the camera to pull up related info.

As you have found they provide full manuals and supplementary updates to those manuals online, so you know you are getting the latest updates to it. It's the way it's all going now.

Thanks Juan,
The modern age no doubt, but a step back in my humble opinion.

How did you get a service on 19 January, when it’s only the 13th today?
