Hello,
I am currently looking for an used Citroen C5 Aircross.
My main interest is the Diesel BlueHDI180 Engine, but there are some good offers on cars with the Petrol PureTech180 engine too.
I did some research on the PureTech180-engine and it seems to be the widely-used "Prince-Engine" (EP6). (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_engine)
I stumbled on this engine some time ago when I was looking for another car. Back then I excluded this engine from my interest, because massive problems, mainly regarding the timing chain, were reported.
It has been said, that the design of the timing chain on those models was far too weak and its strength was compared to a bicycle chain.
This was some years ago and now I want to know, if the design has been improved on the PureTech180-engine.
I can't imagine, that there would have been a massive redesign like using Duplex chains or something like that.
Does anybody have some insights on this?
Thank you very much!
