Hi I'm a mid 70s age lady c3 aircross owner and am confused as to whether I need to initialize my key fob after battery change and how I do that. Garage is charging me a fortune to change batteries and initialize. Sick of being ripped off.

HI, the procedure is clearly stated in the owner's manual, I really don't want to regurgitate it all here. Exactly what you need to do will depend on whether you have the Hands-Free access option (doors unlock when you put your hand behind the door handle), or standard locking and unlocking with the fob. Both methods are covered in the owners manual.

Generally:
Version without Keyless Entry and Starting

  • Switch off the ignition.
  • Turn the key to position 2 (Ignition).
  • Immediately press the closed padlock button for a few seconds.
  • Switch off the ignition and remove the key from the switch.

  • Place the electronic key against the back-up reader on the steering column and hold it there until the ignition is switched on.
  • Press the Stop Start button to switch on the ignition. This should reinitialise the remote fob.
  • Repeat for the spare fob if necessary.
