Current British number plate format is AAxx AAA, where A is any letter other than I or Q, and xx is a year identifier, currently 19. The first two letters are an area identifier, the remaining letters are issued at random; Any other formats are legacy formats, of which there are several. You can buy numbers from the DVLA (our licensing authority), and this, I suspect, is what has happened here.

Yes, I purchased it from DVLA.
I normally have my initials but fancied a change. Being a C plate it is a 1985 issue year.

I only had to wait a few days, and that was bad enough! So I sypathise with you all... But you'll find it is worth the wait. Enjoy when they arrive, all of you.
