Yes it's a Faraday pouch that prevents the keys being scanned by thrives. Have one for my car.

No, the fob case is leather and not a signal blocker. This is solely for the purposes of protection of the fob and to secure it on my person when out with the vehicle.

When at home, I store both my fobs in the rear of the house in a separate 'faraday' type pouch similar to that pictured above for the same reason.

My post was in response to the OP's issue of losing and dropping his fob whilst out regularly when he's tidying up the beach and delving into crevices :D
