Yes it's a Faraday pouch that prevents the keys being scanned by thrives. Have one for my car.
No, the fob case is leather and not a signal blocker. When at home, I store both my fobs in the rear of the house in a separate 'faraday' type pouch similar to that pictured above for the same reason.
My post was in response to the OP's issue of losing and dropping his fob whilst out regularly when he's tidying up the beach and delving into crevices
