Here is what I want to do.. I want to mount a flat board between the longitudinal roof bars to stand on and use as a viewing platform. Now, the manual says I can only mount 45Kg on the roof between those bars but that’s a measurement for a moving vehicle so’s you don’t tip over going around bends. I just want to stand on it while the car is stationary. Seems to me that, as I can stand on the doorsill and lift up my full 100Kg weight when gripping onto just one small area of those bars, the maximum load I can spread over the bars must be well over 200-300Kg right ? I asked Citroen but they don’t seem to have the spec for it. I may even decide to get one of those roof bar mounted tents when I’m camping. (You see them on Safari cars sometimes so the wildlife can’t get to you.)
Perhaps someone has had reason to take their bars off and seen if they are bolted into the chassis or just onto some small lugs?
