Just an update but another query! The advice to use a windows PC for the USB drive worked fine, I left my car running whilst it was installing but unfortunately was forced to go out on a minor emergency before it finished. It continued to upload and got to the end of installation and am not sure what happened after that! I had to rely on my wife to complete further instructions on the screen as I was in busy in heavy traffic. Is there anyway of telling if the update was installed successfully? I don't want to have to go through this laborious procedure again if at all possible.

Hi Chrislo, here's how to do it... from any of the main screens, press the settings icon (top right next to clock) then Options > System Settings > System Info > View - this will show the current versions (after a slight pause!). If you press Mapping it will also give you the version date.

Hi John, many thanks for the info. I have just followed your instructions, but when I press the mapping icon it just shows the version and date blank, with no info, assume that the new maps have not been installed?
Regards
Chris

Hi Chrislo, no idea unfortunately... I would have expected it to show a previous version if it hadn't updated, but not sure. I haven't tried the latest map update myself yet. Someone else here might know more about this hopefully.

Hi John, just an update re the map installation! I have just spent a few frustrating hours re-installing the updates. I stupidly and regrettably followed an incorrect Citroen PDF instruction doc on how to update the maps correctly. On the last screen when it says something similar to 'do you want the media to upload maps', the Citroen info said press 'Yes'; this I now realise sets the whole thing back in motion again! I'd already wasted time and fuel on the first attempt, so I pulled the usb out and then lost all my maps! I phoned my dealership and they said to either disconnect the battery or try another install! Subsequently I reinstalled and pressed 'no' on the last screen and hey presto I've now got my maps back and in the system settings it's now being displayed. Hopefully I have now learnt my lesson and will follow my own instincts before accepting Citroen instructions. I can't say I'm too enamoured at the Citroen online customer help line re this installation, they need to check these forums to get the right information!

Hi Chrislo, glad you got it sorted. As someone else commented on this form somewhere, this is tricky enough for people who have some teccie knowledge and are a bit computer savvy, almost impossible for those who aren't. I guess other manufacturers are probably not much different

I have just successfully updated firmware and maps. Car did not find update on my 256gb fat32 usb stick. It was happy enough with a 128gb fat32 stick.

The update procedure is hugely hugely improved from what I had to do to update my Cactus.

I do have a question. I have the Citroen Connect Nav. The salesman said that it would handle any map updates. Is this correct? I can’t see it being successful as my cars are rarely driven for more than 30 mins at a time - ie switched on. That’s why I manually did the update.

I was told that the you can only do map updates via the USB stick! It's only live traffic updates that are installed automatically.
But who knows? I think the information/knowledge passed to dealerships is ambiguous to say the least! I think staff are only aware of how these systems work if they use them themselves, or bother to learn.
Things have changed a lot since I was in car sales many years ago, selling Metros, Montegos and Maestros!!

Would it be useful to have a sticky listing the latest Firmware version and date; same for map updates?
Would these need to be separate lists for C3 and C5 Aircross models?
