If he's done the firmware update before the maps then the WiFi hotspot is used to bypass the need for the license file on the usb stick.

I’ve done mine twice, on Cactus and Aircross, and I’ve never needed anything other than the usb stick. Isn’t the licence file part of the download to the stick?

If you are updating firmware then the license file is part of the download if the software (mycitroen app or Citroen website) shows the updates.

Unfortunately the reason for this thread is due to Citroen's software not showing updates for our C5 aircross's even though there are updates available. This means we've had to download the updates outside of Citroen's software which means the license file isn't included.

The work around for this is to connect the car to a WiFi hotspot and the license check is done via the internet rather than the usb drive.

Hi
The version I am using at the moment is in attachments. It seems as though it tries to install nav first. Unless I am doing some thing wrong 👍

Yeah if you're using the download I linked you to then it needs to install the nav firmware first as this moves the nav software from wave 3 to wave 4 system. This is why the maps won't install as the maps version is for the wave 4 systems which until you update the firmware the maps will keep failing.

I also just used the website link to find an update to screen when app showed nothing available.
Updated screen twice in 7 mths now on 21.08.87.32 and map updated earlier in year now 20.0.0
Never noticed any difference though

Hi all,

this weekend I have just purchased a 69 plate C5 aircross 1.6 180 flair plus. Fantastic car!
I'm having exactly the same troubles as many on this post.
I've tried your links and apparently my car doesnt require any updates although its got 2018 maps installed.
Basically every issue someone has written on here I have and cannot find a way to update my software or maps.
Would love to sort this myself, has anyone got anymore ideas please?

Use "martyness" link on page 2 (on a laptop or PC) add your vin number to see if any updates available, then use a formatted usb 3 pen drive and follow instructions on page 3 link.
Start car, insert drive takes around 30 min approx.
