Surely if it never works you don't need to turn it off?

Just an update since I last topped up the charge on my battery the stop start has worked every journey. Usually the first stop after starting it stays running but after that it works. The car is garaged every night. Last night I returned home at 11 pm the outside temp was 5c and the heater was set at 23, Aircon was off. Headlights were on and the stop start operated correctly.

As long as I charge my battery every 3-4 weeks (as low mileage due to working-from-home) my Stop/Start works correctly. And why anyone would want to disable it is beyond me - after all, it's an emissions reduction control; why would anyone CHOOSE to be a polluter?

When I'm sitting in slow traffic on a hot day I'll choose aircon before a small amount of pollution ;)

Aircon (well, climate control) doesn't necessarily prevent stop/start operating.

Exactly, that's why I'd disable it in those conditions ;)
