Install frontcam/park assist?

Post by stasheck » Fri Oct 23, 2020 11:30 am

I have a '19 C5 Aircross optioned *almost* to the max. Things I'm missing are front heated windshield (that's OK) and front cam with park assist. I've been to one dealership and they told me they cannot do aftermarket installation and don't even know P/Ns needed for it.

I checked on Aliexpress and there's plenty offers for rear cam; it seems this should be as easy as connecting the cam to a connector located in dash. Does anyone know part list and P/Ns for front cam install? Also, does installing front cam enables park assist, or something more is needed?

I would be extremely surprised if you managed to fit all of the hardware and to download a new configuration from Citroen in Paris. If the car doesn't expect it it is extremely unlikely it will work. You are likely to be throwing money away. Since I have been on Citroen forums the usual advice for any electrical additions (including simple things like puddle lights on a C4) is to sell the car and buy one with it fitted. Sorry if it sounds too negative, but I really wouldn't bother trying.

Unfortunately as stated, it is not as simple as connecting a camera up and adding sensors. The Parking assistance ECU has to be the correct version to support the front and rear sensors and then there is the correct multiplexed wiring loom to consider. Wiring looms are different according to options specified prior to building as they no longer fit the same looms on all models regardless. Additionally, the 'City Park Assist' option will mean it is integrated into the vehicle's software and that of the head unit, so is not really a viable option.
