Recently changed work roles where a 2nd mobile phone has been supplied.

For the past 12 months since owning the Aircross the one phone has been happily working connected vie blue tooth. Has any one been able to connect more than one phone and have both active?

I can register both phones (domestic and employment) but it would appear that only one can be the "active" registered hand set?

Ideally be able to use both phones for incoming calls with a nominated one for outgoing communication while driving and remaining legal and hands-free.

Don't think you can do that. It can only connect to one phone at a time. You could always get a dual SIM phone? It would work then.
