In the early days of remote alarms, and before rolling codes, people would lurk in car parks and scan your code as you locked your car.
Things have improved no end, they can now get your code without the need for you unlocking or locking your car.
More useless innovation.

Do you perchance have the aircon set to “automatic”?
Worth noting, if you do not run your aircon regularly (it’s on constantly in mine) the system seals, which are lubricated by oil in the refrigerant, will harden and leak, leading to the need for regular recharging or even more costly maintenance.

It’s not UK law that’s daft, it’s the bloody stupid manufacturers making such an entry system. What was wrong with a key fob with a rolling code? Have we become that helpless that we cannot push a button.

Main stealer says it is the kickdown switch, same throttle pedal assembly used on both automatic and manual variants. I/we are querying the amount of force needed to override the speed control, just doesn’t feel right. On my previous Citroen the system was the same but imperceptible in operation. The pedal just went to the floor without any resistance.
