Re: Wet belt

Just read the small print on Citroens website and right enough it's only at participating retailers. That doesn't sit right with me but hey. Your best bet is to find a dealer near enough to you that will fix it for the fixed price repair as it's a chunk cheeper than what you're being quoted by your ...

Re: Wet belt

I've found sometimes you have to be very careful and quote Citroen's fixed price costs to the dealer as if you don't they'll charge you a higher price as they assume you don't know.

Re: 1.5 BlueHDi engine timing chain information.

Best strategy is to keep a listen out for the offending knocking noise. As soon as you hear it stop the car and get it towed to your nearest Citroen dealer for them to investigate, replace the chain and anything else the investigation shows. We're all unsure what Citroen will pay towards repairs, ho...

Re: 1.5 BlueHDi engine timing chain information.

He didn't mention any approximate mileage but by the way he was telling me and the reg plates I could see I would guess anywhere between the 50-100k mark.

Re: 1.5 BlueHDi engine timing chain information.

When I spoke to the mechanic at my local Citroen and he pointed out all the cars sitting in their lockup waiting for a replacement chain (all caught before snapping) he said it was all higher mileage vehicles they had found so far. That's not to say it won't happen on lower mileage cars as I'm only ...

Re: 1.5 BlueHDi engine timing chain information.

According to the DVLA Citroen have "special coverage" for the cam chain. Getting Citroen to tell you what that special coverage is however is like drawing blood from a stone. My general assumption is that if you hear the knocking noise (it's apparently a loud knocking noise) and get it tak...

Re: Disable keyless entry on C5 aircross

This is more about if the keyless entry starts acting up. For example if one of your handles becomes faulty and starts acting on its own whenever the key is near (randomly locking and unlocking the car). Instead of having to fork out hundreds of pounds for a new handle (which is also likely to fail ...

Re: 1.5 BlueHDi engine timing chain information.

So I've had an email from the dvsa this morning. They are fully aware of the issue. Citroen have told them it was a production change (not a manufacturing fault/not fit for purpose). They also told the dvsa there is provision in place for customer support upon recognition of the concern in the field...

Re: 1.5 BlueHDi engine timing chain information.

The last two emails I've had from Citroen yesterday and today have just been them saying theirs no recall on the 1.5 diesel engines and to keep up with the scheduled maintenance and then we'll respond appropriately to any third party party contact (DVSA). Basically they are refusing to acknowledge t...

Re: 1.5 BlueHDi engine timing chain information.

Since I've heard nothing back from the departments of Citroen my email was forwarded to I have now decided to contact the dvsa for them to investigate the issue to hopefully force a recall. They are clearly wanting to keep the issue hidden to reduce their costs. If anyone else wants to add to it the...
